Wardogs fixes Season 2 XP exploit after players unlocked tanks on day one

Wardogs Season 2 players unlocked tanks within hours

Wardogs Season 2 launched with a progression exploit that let some players unlock tanks on the first day, according to reporting published on October 16, 2026. The shortcut gave early users access to heavily equipped vehicles before most players had progressed far enough to unlock effective anti-tank options.

The exploit worked through a repeatable pallet delivery loop. Players drove just outside their HQ, dropped off pallets, returned to base and collected a large amount of XP. Faster gains assigned to the Driver role made the route particularly effective, allowing dedicated users to move rapidly through the Driver progression track.

Backend update removes the pallet loop and Driver XP bug

Bulkhead has now pushed a backend update that fixes the Driver XP progression problem and closes the pallet exploit. The same update removes Lonestar's cash and XP bonuses for the blue team, another Season 2 change that had been intended to address the faction's weak results during Season 1.

Bulkhead co-founder Howard Philpott acknowledged the launch mistakes in a post on the Wardogs Discord. The update changes the Driver progression path while also removing the Lonestar bonuses, so players can no longer rely on either the pallet route or the blue team's extra rewards.

Players can view the official Wardogs video for the developer explanation of the response.

Fewer than 1,000 extreme users face 24-hour bans

Technical designer Mark Tadros said players who used the exploit extremely would receive 24-hour bans. Fewer than 1,000 players were identified in that category, while people who used the method less aggressively appear not to have received the same punishment.

The timing created an uneven opening for Season 2. Tank unlocks required only a few hours of concentrated Driver grinding through the exploit, while unlocking anti-tank equipment through other progression routes took substantially longer. Players who did not use the shortcut therefore entered matches less prepared to counter tanks.

The fix changes the choice for players joining now

For players choosing a Wardogs server tonight, the reported tank gap is less likely to define a new match than it did on Season 2's first day: the exploit is closed, extreme users faced 24-hour bans, and Lonestar's extra cash and XP are gone. The result is a reset toward the intended progression paths, but anyone who missed the launch window cannot recover the early advantage the exploit created.
